About LPLD
LPLD wants to build up a volume of knowledge that it can put at the disposal of lawyers where it is necessary to invoke the law to assert or protect the rights of people with learning disabilities.
LPLD wants to reach a wide audience. Until the setting up of this website, the only method of contact for members of the public was as a last resort, which was to telephone the law society and then be referred to the chair or secretary of LPLD.
Our experience from those telephone calls is that there is a vast well of unmet needs. With a little guidance, these issues can be dealt with by solicitors who aren't necessarily experts in the field.
